Six-Month Update

Wilder has his 6-month doc appointment yesterday. He's 27 inches tall now and weights 19 lbs., 1.5 oz. He also got three howl-inducing shots that have really wiped him out good this time. Poor guy -- he's been extra fussy and tired and seems very uncomfortable. Hopefully it'll pass soon. And poor Jerry, he had to take him this time because I've been very sick this week. He'd not seen needles poked into his son in awhile, and it was pretty brutal. At any rate, Wilder is very healthy and doing just fine developmentally.

In other news in Wilder's World, we are losing yet another nanny. Sigh ... It's a long story, but the other family Mariana works for, they want to switch her working days to include weekends, and with two kids of her own, Mariana isn't up to it, and who can blame her. So she's leaving them, and the chances of her finding another family's situation that conforms to ours perfectly like this one are very remote.

So we've contacted a daycare three blocks from our house that we previously didn't even know existed. My first Nanny B told me about it a couple weeks ago before I even knew I'd be losing Mariana. Nanny B said her son's teacher has her baby there and RAVES about it. I called them this morning, they were wonderful over the phone and have room for Wilder. We're visiting Tuesday. We're keeping our fingers crossed because we really need this to work out. It will be cheaper than nanny care, have more flexibility and hopefully Wilder will love it.

Man, having kids is hard. Great, fun, rewarding, and it fills your life with light and love. But HARD.
